The mission of the Louis D. Brandeis Law Society is rooted in deep Jewish traditions and values. As it is written, “Justice, justice shall you pursue.” (Deuteronomy 16:20). In accordance with these words, the Talmudic tradition of Tikkun Olam – “repairing the world” – and the principles of upholding the rule of law in a just society, we aim to serve our members, the legal community, and community at large.

Membership into our organization is open to all members of the bench and bar as well as law students that will one day enter the legal profession. Our membership includes federal and state judges at the trial and appellate levels, elected officials, associates, partners, and managing partners of some of the most well-respected law firms and legal organizations in the greater Philadelphia area and country.

Our society is named in honor of the late Justice Louis D. Brandeis (1856-1941), the first Jew to ever serve on the United States Supreme Court. Justice Brandeis is widely considered to be one of the most famous and influential members to ever serve on the High Court.
