Jewish Law Day 2018

Dear Friends:

Jewish Law Day was conceived by a committee of lawyers and judges over 36 years ago to recognize the contributions of Jewish Law to American jurisprudence. This year we will celebrate Jewish Law Day on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at the Jewish Community Services Building, 2100 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA. Complimentary valet parking will be available. A kosher catered reception will follow the program.

Our distinguished guest speaker will be the Honorable Jed S. Rakoff, Senior U.S. District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Judge Rakoff is a noted legal scholar, author, commentator and jurist. When his alma mater, Swarthmore College, conferred an honorary degree on Judge Rakoff, it noted that he is "broadly recognized as a legal thinker, scholar and judge who not only elucidates and enforces the law, but interprets, defends and challenges it in light of the principles of ethics and social justice that it is designed to serve."

The program will be submitted for approval for one hour of PA CLE Credit, free of charge to all who register and attend. Judge A. Michael Snyder (Ret.) and Lawrence Arem, Esq. are co-chairs.

Since its inception, attendance at Jewish Law Day has been free of charge and open to the entire community. The program is supported by voluntary contributions from law firms and individuals. We would very much appreciate your individual contribution of $180.00 to assist in the underwriting of this unique event. Firm or individual contributions of $500.00 or more will be given special recognition.

Your tax deductible check should be made payable to the "Louis D. Brandeis Law Society Foundation" (a 501(c)(3) charity) and sent to Jay E. Kivitz, 7901 Ogontz Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19150.

On behalf of the Committee, we thank you in advance for your support of this Jewish Law Day and look forward to sharing the day with you and your colleagues.

With warmest personal regards.

Sincerely,

Judge Abraham Gafni
